Ebrima:

Available as a one-off, signed, large format mounted photograph. Also available as numbered prints – see below

Ebrima is a young man who played an active role in the distribution of food and logistics at La Cocina Ciutadella.

As an underage asylum seeker, we formed a bond akin to siblings, spending long hours talking about his family, his past life, and what compelled him to risk everything on a dangerous journey by boat to reach Europe.

In this portrait, his presence reflects resilience, agency, and a quiet determination in the face of displacement and uncertainty. A few days after this image was taken, Ebrima was moved to a new juvenile centre, where he would wait for the documents that might secure his future.

The photograph captures a fleeting moment of connection and visibility – a reminder that behind every bureaucratic process are lives defined by courage, memory, and hope.

Through Ebrima’s story, the work highlights the human cost of migration policies, and the profound impact of care, solidarity, and personal relationships in moments of precarity.
