The Chair:
Original artwork by Adeline Lynch
Available as a one-off, signed, large format mounted photograph. Also available as numbered prints – see below
Outside a cluster of tents where young migrants lived, a single chair stood out in perfect condition; a striking contrast to the precarity surrounding it.
More than furniture, the chair functioned as a subtle tool of hierarchy within the group: elders and prominent personalities
claimed it as a seat of authority.
When I arrived to serve lunch, it was always offered to me, a gesture of respect and acknowledgment within an informal social structure.
The chair embodies both comfort and power, revealing how even small objects can shape relationships, signal status, and mediate interactions in spaces defined by scarcity and resilience.
Its quiet presence speaks to the unspoken rules, care, and dignity that emerge in the midst of marginalization.
