Jonathon Ryan

Born in Liverpool in 1989 and now based in Barcelona, Jonathon Ryan is a visual artist whose creative practice began by exploring the philosophies of ‘being’. After studying fine art and photography at university, Ryan has exhibited his non-figurative photographic works as part of group exhibitions in a number of galleries worldwide.

Influenced by the poetry of Blake, Bauhaus visionaries such as Albers and Itten, and the contemplative fields of Rothko, Ryan’s work is a meditation on the mysteries of colour and form. Through shifting hues, geometric rhythms, and subtle illusions, his practice now seeks to unravel how colour shapes emotion, perception, and our sense of reality. Intertwining mathematical precision with the urgent questions of a world in flux, Ryan’s art becomes both an inquiry and an elegy — a desperate search for meaning amid the dissonance and loss of a world undergoing radical, unsettling change.

In “Anthrophecy: Everything Amidst Nothing,” his first solo show, Ryan turns to collage and paper works to capture the fragility and complexity of a world in transition. Each piece weaves together fragments of colour and form, inviting viewers to navigate landscapes that are at once both familiar and uncertain. The exhibition becomes a visual prophecy — reflecting on change, resilience, and the subtle poetry found within indefinite chaos.
