Reuven Eimer was born in London and lived there for twenty five years before moving for one year to the Isle of Wight to learn to blow glass.
He then moved to Rotterdam for several years where he made friends with a Barcelona resident through whom he first visited Spain.
During that first visit, he spent time in Madrid and Barcelona. It was two weeks full of art galleries and museums where he absorbed the works of cubism and impressionism (his favourite genres of art).
On his return to the Netherlands he started to develop what he affectionately calls his ‘Catalan Technique’, an interpretation of cubism with the colours inspired by the impressionists. The first work from this period is “Dog with erection”.
In all Reuven’s works you will see references to the artists who have inspired him; Miro, Picabia, Julio Gonzalez, Gaudi, Picasso and more.
